Sports do not build character. They reveal it.

Cricket was first played in southern England in the 16th century. By the end of the 18th century, it had developed to be the national sport of England. The expansion of the British Empire led to cricket being played overseas and by the mid-19th century the first international match was held. ICC, the game's governing body, has 10 full members the game is most popular in Australasia England the Indian subcontinent, the West Indies and Southern Africa and Pakistan.

In 1844, the first international cricket match took place between the United States and Canada (although neither has ever been ranked as a Test-playing nation).

Test cricket continued to expand during the 20th century with the addition of the West Indies, India, and New Zealand before the Second World War and then Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh in the post-war period. However, South Africa was banned from international cricket from 1970 to 1992 because of its government's apartheid policy.

The governing International Cricket Council (ICC) saw its potential and staged the first limited overs Cricket World Cup in 1975. In the 21st century, a new limited overs form,Twenty20, has made an immediate impact.

The ICC Cricket World Cup is the international championship of One Day International (ODI) cricket and imparting a great role in this wonderful event. The event is organized by the sport's governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC), with preliminary qualification rounds leading up to a finals tournament held every four years. The tournament is one of the world's most viewed sporting events and is considered the "flagship event of the international cricket calendar" by the ICC.

The first World Cup was organized or hosted by England in June 1975, with the first ODI cricket match having been played only four years prior and was won by West Indies by defeating Australia. Afterward, India and Pakistan jointly hosted the 1987 world cup. Australia won the championship by stunning effort of team and that was the closet margin cup in history.

1999 world cup was hosted by England and its final wasn’t interesting enough as it would be. Australia dismissed Pakistan for 132 and then reached the target in less than 20 overs and with eight wickets in hand.

South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya hosted the 2003 World Cup. Two most interesting thing happened in this event, one of them was participating of more teams as compare to before and second was India got chase up of 359 runs by Australia only dropping of two wicket, the largest ever total in final. Australia was blessed with success by very good margin.

In 2007 the tournament was hosted by the West Indies and expanded to sixteen teams.one really sad news appear in this event when Pakistan was lost in group stage and Pakistani coach Bob Woolmer died of heart failure.

The 2011 Cricket World Cup was jointly hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. India won this title by beating Sri Lanka and became a first country to won a title on his home soil.
